A Better Catch
Dulal Miah is a fish farmer in a poor rural area of Northern Bangladesh. He lives with his wife, four children and mother-in-law in a tin house with just two small rooms and no water. Dulal struggles to meet even his family's basic needs of food, clothing and healthcare. He's not alone: about 80 per cent of the local community are in a similar position. Traidcraft is training people like Dulal in better fish farming techniques and, by providing access to feed, knowledge about diseases and controls, and help with negotiating fairer prices, offers the hope of a better future.
Dulal says, "I hope to earn more from fish to meet all the needs of my family: to provide enough food, improve my home, provide better education for children and ensure better health and sanitation."
£75 could help other farmers like Dulal to get the training they need and increase their income from fish farming..
